Greer Upstate Recreational Hockey Association (GURHA) is holding a K&K Supplemental Insurance Drive. In light of recent injuries at another facility, the Association feels strongly that it needs to offer supplemental accidental insurance immediately to its participants at a very reasonable price (just $50 for a year of coverage), effective once the policy has been written and paid for.
Because of the elevated risk for injury while playing ice hockey, GURHA believes it is important to have a supplemental medical policy in place for players at least until our USA Hockey certification is implemented, which should be in place by year’s end.
This supplemental accidental insurance policy covers up to $50,000 with a $100 deductible and an accidental death of $17,500 related to any GURHA activities, including stick times, pickups, games, tournaments, and other events. This coverage with K&K is a similar policy used by USA Hockey.
The insurance company asks for 100 percent participation. Deadline for payment must be received by March 3. If you do not plan to play next season, you can disregard this request for coverage.
Please note: There may be some in our group who truly can’t afford this, so if you have the ability to contribute a little extra, it will be used for those who cannot afford to pay at this time.
